This curious and most captivating concept commences at the luxurious Sebel Resort & Spa, Hawkesbury Valley (originally the Rum Corp Barracks). Relax and enjoy a pre-lunch or dinner drink at the Barracks Bar as you make your selection from our extensive A La Carte menu prior to boarding your carriage for an experience to remember.
Traveling at an Old World pace that allows you to take in the sights and sounds, we pass by many original old buildings as we meander our way through historical Windsor Town (Australia’s third settlement town).
We stop at several enthralling points of interest throughout our journey where guests can disembark and view Windsor Courthouse (c1822), St Matthew’s Church (c1817) and the old graveyard.
Your meals are served throughout the journey by local award-winning restaurants and all food is freshly prepared, of the finest quality and delivered piping hot, straight from their kitchen.
The carriage has been luxuriously restored with antique fittings, brass, velvet & lace and contains four tables for two set with English china and silverware. Seating 8 guests in style, everyone enjoys an uninterrupted & ever-changing view of yesteryear. With a gentle motion, even your wine glass remains fixed to the table so you can just relax and enjoy the sound of 12 heavy Clydesdale hooves calmly hitting the road!
Our authentic 1890’s omnibus was located in Victoria where, during the late 19th Century, it provided transport for boarding-school children.
The horse-drawn omnibus was designed to carry many passengers during the 1800’s. It is characterised by an enclosed body, and a door at the rear providing access to bench seats facing each other. The first omnibus was built in Paris in 1819 and named when a bath house proprietor referred to the vehicle he operated for his patrons as "L'Omnibus".
